Opportunity: Write a Story for Children Competition

THE ACADEMY OF CHILDREN'S WRITERS WRITE A STORY FOR CHILDREN COMPETITION 2009
YOUR CHANCE TO WIN £2000 (US$3,600) (€3,000)
We are currently promoting our Twentieth Fourth Annual Write a Story for Children Competition that is open to all amateur writers over the age of 18. There are cash prizes of £2,000 for the best story submitted, £300 for second prize and £200 for the third placed story.
Independent judges, who will be looking for such qualities as originality, imagination and flair, will read the entries. Most importantly, they will also consider how the story will appeal to children.

RULES AND CONDITIONS OF ENTRY
1. The competition is open only to previously unpublished (for profit) writers of children's fiction over the age of 18. 2. U.K. Entries must be accompanied by an offical entry form and a £2.70 entry fee (10 x 2nd class UK stamps preferred). Non U.K. entries should be accompanied by an offical entry form and a US$10 bill or €10 note. Entries cannot be returned so please keep a copy of your manuscript. email entries are not accepted. 3. The story must not exceed 2,000 words in length and may be suitable for children of any age group up to teenage. 4. The story must be the unaided work of the entrant who must have had no work of children's fiction published for payment at the time of entry. 5. Only one entry per person will be accepted. 6. The story must be typewritten or clearly hand-written, but illustrations must not be included, regardless of the type of entry. Illegible or mutilated entries will be disqualified. 7. Independent judges, who will award prizes to the entrants who, in their opinion, submitted the best original children's sotries, will read all entries. The judges' decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into. 8. The closing date for entries is 31st March 2009 and the winners will be notified by the end of May 2009. Late entries will be disqualified. No responsibility can be accepted for stories lost or delayed. 9. The copyright of all stories remains with the author at all times. 10. Entry implies the acceptance of the rules as legally binding.
